Today parishioner and seminarian of the eparchy Philip Gilbert had the opportunity to meet and spend time with our newly-appointed bishop, Benedict Aleksiychuk. Philip is currently engaged in language studies in L’viv, Ukraine where Bishop Benedict has been appointed until his recent reassignment to Chicago. At his invitation, Philip accompanied Bishop Benedict and his assisting clergy to a parish in L’viv where Bishop Benedict celebrated his final Sunday liturgy before leaving for his assignment as bishop of the Saint Nicholas Eparchy in Chicago. During their brief conversation, Philip told Bishop Benedict that “we are all very excited that you are coming [to be our bishop].”
Bishop Benedict will be enthroned as bishop of the Saint Nicholas Eparchy on the feast of Saints Peter and Paul on June 29.
