Born in 1970 in the city of Striy in western Ukraine, Patriarch +Sviatoslav was ordained a priest in 1994, and served as rector of Holy Spirit Seminary in L’Viv, Ukraine. He was consecrated a bishop in 2009 and served as auxiliary bishop of Buenos Aires before being elected to the archiepiscopal See of Kyiv-Halych in 2011. At the time of his election to the patriarchate he was only 40 years old.
Born in 1968 in Borshchivka, Ukraine, our bishop, then Valeriy Aleksichuk, was ordained a priest in 1992 and served in parishes before entering the Studite Monastery of the Holy Dormition in 1993 and receiving the name Benedict. In 2010 Patriarch +Lyubomyr appointed the priest-monk to the position of auxiliary bishop of L’viv, Ukraine. Bishop +Benedict was moved from L’viv installed as our bishop, Eparch of Saint Nicholas Eparchy in Chicago, on June 29, 2017. He visited our parish on December 31st, 2017.
Originally from Jamestown, New York, Father David has been serving as our pastor and parish priest since the founding of our mission in 1999. Before his priestly ordination in 1983, Father David worked as a translator for St Vladimir’s Seminary Press and translated many patristic and liturgical works. In addition to parochial work, he continues to teach and regularly gives retreats, conferences, and lecture series across Northern California and the broader United States.
Ordained in 1987, Subdeacon Nathaniel has been with our parish since its founding. Possesing great musical ability, he is our faithful choir director and main chanter.
Subdeacon Philip was ordained in our parish in December, 2017 when His Grace Bishop +BENEDICT visited us. He is a native son of our parish, having been a parishioner since its founding (most of his life). He is currently in priestly formation for the Eparchy of Saint Nicholas.
Though he serves in North Carolina, Father Mark is a son of our parish. He and his wife and children were our parishioners before they moved to the East Coast. He was ordained a priest in 2007 for the Eparchy of Saint Josaphat (Parma) and is now the pastor of Saint Nicholas Mission in Raleigh, NC, and the director of missions for the eparchy.
Father Tyler was raised in the Episcopal Church, where he served as a clergyman for many years. His last parish assignment in the Episcopal Church was near our parish, which gave him the opportunity to visit us. He retired from the Episcopal Church, and was received into the Catholic Church at our parish, making him one of our parish sons. In 2015 he was ordained a priest of the Ruthenian Eparchy of Passaic, and he currently serves as the parish priest of Holy Resurrection Byzantine Catholic Church, in Smithtown, NY.
